Trade Evenings
Pyrovision's trade evenings proved to be a huge success. It was good to meet lots of 'new' and 'old' faces and to be able to show some of the exciting new Black Cat products. Thank you to everyone who attended and we are looking forward to repeating the experience some time next year!

Halifax Bank 150th Anniversary
Challenge: To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Halifax Bank on the two roofs of their headquarters in the town centre of Halifax.
Display: All fireworks and equipment were hoisted onto the roofs of the office buildings with the help of a crane, the roof being protected with lage boards. All materials were specifically selected bearing the location in mind, i.e. no fall-out and low noise levels. The artistic display was set to music using small calibre fireworks. Blue fireworks which crossed over between the two roofs, echoing the Halifax's symbol, marked the end of the show.

Bedford Proms
Challenge: Pyrovision is certainly an expert when it comes to fireworks set to music but fireworks set to live music always provide an extra challenge.
Solution: The firing of the fireworks and special effects had to be flexible to fit in with the live music, therefore one crew member was following the music and giving instructions to the person responsible for setting off the display. One of the highlights of the display had to be the fire sculpture of the Phoenix which was lifted over the stage with a crane.

Citroen Car Launch
Challenge: Although the shows were on three consecutive nights the crew only had 4 hours to prepare the site in between shows to fit in with the hospitality arrangements of the client. The brief was not to disturb neighbouring wildlife/animals unnecessarily.
Solution: Every show was prepared at our warehouse to cut down on labour on the day. Mainly quite fireworks such as cakes and candles were used to provide the audience with a very colourful display which was set to music. The petrol bombs certainly managed to make the odd journalist jump and overall the fireworks and effects were a worthy finale to a great night of entertainment.
Swan Hellenic Minerva II Naming Ceremony
Tower Bridge, London was the setting for the naming of the Swan Hellenic cruise ship Minerva II and Pyrovision was there to fire a 10 minute celebration show from the River Thames.

Holland & Holland Shooting Range, Corporate Event
Challenge: To create an impressive finale to the evening's entertainment for their most prestigious clients but also to avoid blowing up the explosive store in the process.
Solution: Again the display was set to music lasting approx. 10 minutes. colourful and noisy display, punchy display to end the evening. As there was plenty of space and also to situate the fireworks as far away from the explosive store as possible shells and candles were used providing a very punchy and colourful display.

June 2003
Wrigley's Launch Party
Challenge: Pyrovision had to appear to get it all wrong with our indoor effects during the conference. The crew then had to make it very quickly to the second site where the outdoor fireworks were set off.
Solution: With airbursts and flashes Pyrovision simulated electrical sparks and bangs in the truss and on stage as well as rigging a lantern with nitro string to the truss and letting it fall onto the stage during the presentation. Garry perfected his skills as the up and coming Damon Hill getting the crew from the conference centre to the docks where the actual launch took place. As it was a take-off the Matrix Reloaded effects such as fireballs and flames were used during the video screening. The fireworks were set in and around the dock area with a chasing sequence of comets and candles crossing over the dock giving a very artful feel to the fireworks display, which was set to music. Again loud fireworks were avoided as not to upset the residents.
April 2003
P & O Ocean Village Naming Ceremony
Challenge: To continue the Salsa Theme of the evening in our firework display.
Display: On what had to be the wettest and most windy day of the spring the display team had to be out on a barge in Southampton harbour. The theme of the evening was Salsa as to appeal to the new clientle of this cruise ship. Ulrika Jonsson started the display by crashing a bottle of champagne on board the ship to give it is new name 'Ocean Village'. As the barge had to be positioned quite far away from the ship due to high winds, 3" Shells were used instead of Mines. The display was set to a fast moving piece of Salsa music and this was reflected in the choice of materials used such as Bees Shells. The colours of the evening were pink/orange/red and magenta and were used to light up the sky to the delight of the invited audience.
P & O Ocean Village Sail Away
Challenge: To salute the ship as it went on its first voyage as Ocean Village.
Display: As the display was fired in the daytime only highly visible material such as Streamer and Parachute Cakes and red Shells were used as well as very noisy fireworks such as Crackling Roman Candles and Devil Flute Cakes. This was a short and punchy display to give the cruise ship a dramatic send off.
